A. V. Vasiliev and his role in the development of international scientific cooperation during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries


Kazan University mathematician Alexander Vasilievich Vasiliev (1853–1929) played an influential role in the coordination of the international mathematical community at the turn of the century. He actively popularized the achievements of Russian mathematicians abroad, «translated» recent philosophical trends in European mathematical theories for the benefit of his Russian colleagues, and organized international events.
