The institute for producing chemically pure reagents and a 1916 “regulation” on this institute

The 1st of January 2017 (19 December 2016 old style) was the centenary of the official establishment of the Institute of Chemically Pure Reagents (The Order of the Labor Red Banner Institute of Chemical Reagents and Ultra Pure Chemicals, IREA). Being the oldest industrial scientific institution, the Institute has made a significant contribution to the development of chemistry and special materials technology in Russia. IREA has developed the analytical methods and chemical product classification for the ‘pure,’ ‘pro analyse’ and other grades. IREA has been headed by the outstanding Russian chemists V.V. Longvinov, B.D. Stepin, and others. A significant contribution to IREA’s work has been made by its directors V.G. Brudz, Ye. A. Ryabenko, etc. and scientists including R.P. Lastovskii, Ye. A. Bozhevolnov, G.A. Pevtsov, A.V. Bromberg, N.M. Dyatlova, V.M. Dziomko, A.M. Lukin, G.Z. Blyum, and others. Numerous IREA branches in Russia, Ukraine and other CIS countries were reorganized into specialist scientific institutions. These days IREA functions as an RD, teaching and analytical instrumentation center (shared-use center). To celebrate this anniversary, the original “Regulation on the Institute” is published.
