Exhibiting modern science: The context and practice of the development of museums of science and technology


This article describes the development of science and technology museums from the late 18<sup>th</sup> to the early 20<sup>th</sup> century. The process reflected the successive stages in the ongoing scientific-technical revolution as well as the influence of varied socio-economic factors and developments in the UK, Germany, USA, and Russia. Taking into account modern experiences and the current economic situation, the article discusses the possibility of establishing a museum of contemporary science.
